Abstract

This study is devoted to reviewing and analyzing current trends in engineering research methods, concentratingon modeling and simulation, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and complex systems engineering. Selected and analyzed academic articles published within the last five years were used to create a critical analysis. Despite the associated challenges, such as the need for new competencies and resources, the results indicated that these emergent methods significantly impact the engineering field. However, significant voids were also identified, including the inability to solve engineering problems innovatively and efficiently. This study concludes by emphasizing the need for additional in-depth research into these trends and their effects on various engineering disciplines.
