N2 - Introduction: For the adequate control of arterial hyperten-sion, it is necessary that patients adhere to the recommen-dations on compliance with antihypertensive treatment and modification of their lifestyles. Objective: To determine the association between lifestyle and adherence to treatment in hypertensive patients. Methodology: Cross-sectional analytical study, made up of 250 hypertensive patients, 150 belonging to the La Era-Lima Health Center, Peru and 100 to the “Cardiovascular Health” Program of San Miguel-Arica, Chile, chosen through non-probabilistic sampling and for convenience. For data collec-tion, the previously validated Lifestyle Profile questionnaire (FIFO-I) and the Morisky-Green scale were used. For the multivariate analysis, the robust Poisson regression of vari-ance was used. Results: 58.8% of the hypertensive patients practiced an in-adequate lifestyle and 58.4% were not adherent to the treat-ment. At the multivariate analysis, an adequate practice of lifestyles in the dimensions: nutrition (RPa =1.56; 95% CI = 1.14-2.14), interpersonal relationships (RPa =1.58; 95% CI =1.05-2.36) and health responsibility (RPa=1.54; 95% CI = 1.02-2.30) are associated with adherence to antihypertensive treatment. Conclusions: Having adequate nutrition, interpersonal relationships and responsibility with health are associated with adherence to antihypertensive treatment.
