Adamová ;A. Adler ;G. Aglieri RinellaM. AgnelloThe first measurement of the cross section for incoherent photonuclear production of J/ψ vector mesons as a function of the Mandelstam |t| variable is presented. The measurement was carried out with the ALICE detector at midrapidity, |y|<0.8, using ultraperipheral collisions of Pb nuclei at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. This rapidity interval corresponds to a Bjorken-x range (0.3-1.4)×10^{-3}. Cross sections are given in five |t| intervals in the range 0.04<|t|<1 GeV^{2} and compared to the predictions by different models. Models that ignore quantum fluctuations of the gluon density in the colliding hadron predict a |t| dependence of the cross section much steeper than in data. The inclusion of such fluctuations in the same models provides a better description of the data. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publicación, Emergence of Long-Range Angular Correlations in Low-Multiplicity Proton-Proton Collisions(2024-04-26); ;D. Adamová ;G. Aglieri Rinella ;Luca AgliettaM. AgnelloThis Letter presents the measurement of near-side associated per-trigger yields, denoted ridge yields, from the analysis of angular correlations of charged hadrons in proton-proton collisions at sqrt[s]=13 TeV. Long-range ridge yields are extracted for pairs of charged particles with a pseudorapidity difference of 1.4<|Δη|<1.8 and a transverse momentum of 1<p_{T}<2 GeV/c, as a function of the charged-particle multiplicity measured at midrapidity. This Letter extends the measurements of the ridge yield to the low multiplicity region, where in hadronic collisions it is typically conjectured that a strongly interacting medium is unlikely to be formed. The precision of the new low multiplicity results allows for the first direct quantitative comparison with the results obtained in e^{+}e^{-} collisions at sqrt[s]=91 GeV and sqrt[s]=183-209 GeV, where initial-state effects such as preequilibrium dynamics and collision geometry are not expected to play a role. In the multiplicity range 8≲⟨N_{ch}⟩≲24 where the e^{+}e^{-} results have good precision, the measured ridge yields in pp collisions are substantially larger than the limits set in e^{+}e^{-} annihilations. Consequently, the findings presented in this Letter suggest that the processes involved in e^{+}e^{-} annihilations do not contribute significantly to the emergence of long-range correlations in pp collisions. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Adamová ;G. Aglieri Rinella ;M. AgnelloN. AgrawalThe ALICE Collaboration reports the measurement of semi-inclusive distributions of charged-particle jets recoiling from a high transverse momentum (high p_{T}) hadron trigger in proton-proton and central Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. A data-driven statistical method is used to mitigate the large uncorrelated background in central Pb-Pb collisions. Recoil jet distributions are reported for jet resolution parameter R=0.2, 0.4, and 0.5 in the range 7<p_{T,jet}<140 GeV/c and trigger-recoil jet azimuthal separation π/2<Δφ<π. The measurements exhibit a marked medium-induced jet yield enhancement at low p_{T} and at large azimuthal deviation from Δφ∼π. The enhancement is characterized by its dependence on Δφ, which has a slope that differs from zero by 4.7σ. Comparisons to model calculations incorporating different formulations of jet quenching are reported. These comparisons indicate that the observed yield enhancement arises from the response of the QGP medium to jet propagation. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publicación, Probing Strangeness Hadronization with Event-by-Event Production of Multistrange Hadrons(2025-01-17); ;D. Adamová ;A. Agarwal ;G. Aglieri RinellaLuca AgliettaThis Letter presents the first measurement of event-by-event fluctuations of the net number (difference between the particle and antiparticle multiplicities) of multistrange hadrons Ξ^{-} and Ξ[over ¯]^{+} and its correlation with the net-kaon number using the data collected by the ALICE Collaboration in pp, p-Pb, and Pb-Pb collisions at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. The statistical hadronization model with a correlation over three units of rapidity between hadrons having the same and opposite strangeness content successfully describes the results. On the other hand, string-fragmentation models that mainly correlate strange hadrons with opposite strange quark content over a small rapidity range fail to describe the data. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Agarwal ;G. Aglieri Rinella ;Luca AgliettaM. AgnelloIn this Letter, the first evidence of the _{Λ[over ¯]}^{4}He[over ¯] antihypernucleus is presented, along with the first measurement at the LHC of the production of (anti)hypernuclei with mass number A=4, specifically (anti)_{Λ}^{4}H and (anti)_{Λ}^{4}He. In addition, the antiparticle-to-particle ratios for both hypernuclei (_{Λ[over ¯]}^{4}H[over ¯]/_{Λ}^{4}H and _{Λ[over ¯]}^{4}He[over ¯]/_{Λ}^{4}He) are shown, which are sensitive to the baryochemical potential of the strongly interacting matter created in heavy-ion collisions. The results are obtained from a data sample of central Pb-Pb collisions, collected during the 2018 LHC data taking at a center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. The yields measured for the average of the charge-conjugated states are found to be [0.78±0.19(stat)±0.17(syst)]×10^{-6} for the (anti)_{Λ}^{4}H and [1.08±0.34(stat)±0.20(syst)]×10^{-6} for the (anti)_{Λ}^{4}He, and the measured antiparticle-to-particle ratios are in agreement with unity. The presence of (anti)_{Λ}^{4}H and (anti)_{Λ}^{4}He excited states is expected to strongly enhance the production yield of these hypernuclei. The yield values exhibit a combined deviation of 3.3σ from the theoretical ground-state-only expectation, while the inclusion of the excited states in the calculations leads to an agreement within 0.6σ with the present measurements. Additionally, the measured (anti)_{Λ}^{4}H and (anti)_{Λ}^{4}He masses are compatible with the world-average values within the uncertainties. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Agarwal ;G. Aglieri Rinella ;Luca AgliettaM. AgnelloThe ALICE Collaboration reports measurements of the large relative transverse momentum (k_{T}) component of jet substructure in pp and Pb-Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV. Enhancement in the yield of such large-k_{T} emissions in head-on Pb-Pb collisions is predicted to arise from partonic scattering with quasiparticles of the quark-gluon plasma. The analysis utilizes charged-particle jets reconstructed by the anti-k_{T} algorithm with resolution parameter R=0.2 in the transverse-momentum interval 60<p_{T,ch,jet}<80 GeV/c. The soft drop and dynamical grooming algorithms are used to identify high transverse momentum splittings in the jet shower. Comparison of measurements in Pb-Pb and pp collisions shows medium-induced narrowing, corresponding to yield suppression of high-k_{T} splittings, in contrast to the expectation of yield enhancement due to quasiparticle scattering. The measurements are compared to theoretical model calculations incorporating jet modification due to jet-medium interactions ("jet quenching"), both with and without quasiparticle scattering effects. These measurements provide new insight into the underlying mechanisms and theoretical modeling of jet quenching. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publicación, Long-Range Transverse-Momentum Correlations and Radial Flow in Pb-Pb Collisions at the LHC(2025-11-17); ;G. Aglieri Rinella ;L. Aglietta ;M. AgnelloN. AgrawalThis Letter presents measurements of long-range transverse-momentum correlations using a new observable, v_{0}(p_{T}), serving as a probe of event-by-event radial-flow fluctuations, the underlying radial expansion, and the medium's properties in heavy-ion collisions. Results are reported for inclusive charged particles, pions, kaons, and protons across various centrality intervals in Pb-Pb collisions at sqrt[s_{NN}]=5.02 TeV, recorded by the ALICE detector. A pseudorapidity-gap technique, similar to that used in anisotropic-flow studies, is employed to suppress short-range correlations. At low p_{T}, a characteristic mass ordering consistent with hydrodynamic collective flow is observed. At higher p_{T} (>3 GeV/c), protons exhibit larger v_{0}(p_{T}) than pions and kaons, in agreement with expectations from quark-recombination models. Comparisons to viscous hydrodynamic calculations with varying bulk viscosity and equation of state demonstrate the sensitivity of the v_{0}(p_{T}) observable to these key medium properties. The findings establish v_{0}(p_{T}) as a valuable addition to the set of observables used in Bayesian analyses for extracting the transport properties and constraining the equation of state of strongly interacting matter, while also helping to systematically explore its sensitivity and impact within such global studies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
