Item type:Publicación, Teaching and Learning Online: Experiences from Technical Higher Education(2025-01-05) ;Gonzales-Morales, Marielena Katlen; ;Flores-Mera, Viviana Vanessa ;Saavedra-Vasconez, Jessica KarinaRomero-Carazas, RafaelDuring the last three years, Peru has been suffering from a social crisis, strikes, protests, etc., triggered by political circumstances, which forced the country to abandon, once again, face-to-face class sessions in order to adopt the virtual teaching model. In this context, the students of technological institutes have been suffering an 80% of interrupted instruction time. The aim of this study was to explore the social phenomenon of online teaching and learning, caused by emergent situations, through the accounts of students and teachers of a technical education institution. For this purpose, the qualitative approach was used, with a phenomenological design, and through the interview technique whose saturation allowed the collaboration of 31 participants. The findings of this phenomenological analysis highlight the complexity of the challenges faced by students and teachers during virtual sessions, addressing technical, social and pedagogical aspects. It infers the need to develop comprehensive strategies to improve connectivity, foster participation and address technological and emotional demands in the online educational environment. Item type:Publicación, Citizen participation in public management processes, Puno Case, Peru(2024-09-16) ;Mamani-Flores, Adderly ;Joao Incacutipa-Limachi, Duverly ;Calderón-Torres, Alfredo ;Fernanda Paredes-Calatayud, EdithApaza-Ticona, JorgeIn crisis situations, it is essential to increase representative democracy by structuring communities as tools to encourage citizen participation. For this reason, the research aimed to understand the reality of citizens and the processes of citizen participation mechanisms during the national crisis. It was a qualitative study that was based on phenomenological hermeneutics and identified six community leaders who are social actors in the city of Puno. The results demonstrated that the role of the community leader as an expression of the emotions of all citizens and the importance of community organization as a means of citizen participation are crucial to advance towards the construction of a strong and popular democracy. In conclusion, it is essential to have citizen participation mechanisms in times of crisis, as they allow communities that have traditionally been neglected to be heard and given a voice.

Item type:Publicación, Psychometric Properties of the Motivation Towards English Scale in University Students(2024-01-05) ;Hruška, Roman ;Quenta-Condori, Lourdes ;Livia-Segovia, José Hector; Motivation is one of the necessary components for learning and mastering English as a foreign, second, or additional language in places where English is not the native language. For this reason, a review of the instruments used to assess motivation towards English has been carried out, which shows that only a few instruments have good psychometric tests. Therefore, the main objective of the present study was to assess the validity and reliability of the Motivation towards English Scale. The total sample size was 541 undergraduate students, of whom 41.4% (n = 224) were male and 58.6% (n = 317) were female. Analyses indicated that the internal structure of the scale provided a good fit to the two-dimensional model with RMSEA= .06; GFI= .98; CFI= .97, TLI= .95, and SRMR= .07, and factor loadings ranging from .643 to .797. Reliability for the first factor Alpha and Omega was .835 and for the second factor a coefficient of .77 for Alpha and Omega. The study demonstrated adequate psychometric properties of the Motivation towards English Scale, making this instrument reliable, useful, and concise.

Item type:Publicación, Long-Term Neuropsychiatric, Neurocognitive, and Functional Outcomes of Patients Receiving ECMO(2024-01-05); ;Jin Kook Kang ;Shivalika Khanduja ;Arjun K. MentaSyed A. AhmadBACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Despite the common occurrence of neurologic complications during extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support, data on long-term neuropsychiatric, neurocognitive, and functional outcomes are sparse. We aimed to determine the prevalence of long-term neuropsychiatric symptoms, neurocognitive and functional impairment, and favorable neurologic outcomes in adult patients who receive ECMO. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane, Web of Science, and Scopus were searched for text related to ECMO and neuropsychiatric, neurocognitive, and functional outcomes from inception to May 3, 2023. Our primary outcome was the prevalence of neuropsychiatric symptoms (pain/discomfort, anxiety, depression, posttraumatic stress disorder [PTSD], and sleep disturbance) at long-term (≥6 months) follow-up. Our secondary outcomes were the prevalence of neurocognitive impairment (memory, attention, and reasoning), functional impairment (daily activities, physical activity/mobility, and personal/self-care), and favorable neurologic outcomes (Cerebral Performance Category ≤2, modified Rankin scale ≤3, or Glasgow Outcome Scale ≥4). This study was registered in PROSPERO (CRD42023420565). RESULTS: = 0.68). DISCUSSION: A substantial proportion of ECMO patients seemed to experience neuropsychiatric symptoms and neurocognitive and functional impairments at long-term follow-up. Considerable heterogeneity in methodology for gauging these outcomes exists, warranting the need for standardization. Multicenter prospective observational studies are indicated to further investigate risk factors for these outcomes in ECMO-supported patients.Citas (OpenAlex): 42
