INTRODUCTION: The Evaluation of Learning and Performance standard of the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning proposes evaluating all simulation-based experiences. Over the years, multiple instruments have been designed to evaluate simulation. The Simulation Effectiveness Tool-Modified (SET-M) was developed by Leighton and colleagues in English in 2015. This tool has been translated and validated in different languages and cultures, presenting stable psychometric properties. Although a Spanish validation of the instrument has been found, it was conducted with medical students after participating in telesimulation. To date, no validation has been found for its use after face-to-face simulation with Spanish-speaking nursing students. This study aims to validate the psychometric properties of the SET-M in advanced nursing bachelor's students engaged in face-to-face simulation from 2 Spanish-speaking countries. METHODS: A multicenter, cross-sectional, analytical, and psychometric validation study was conducted. The sample consisted of 232 students from the final 2 years of their Bachelor's Degree in Nursing at 2 privately managed universities, 1 in Argentina and the other 1 in Spain. The bootstrap Exploratory Graphical Analysis (EGA) approach was used to determine the structural consistency and stability of the items. RESULTS: An EGA identified 4 communities with adequate stability and structural consistency values. Furthermore, the SET-M was found to be invariant among nursing students in Argentina and Spain. CONCLUSIONS: The Spanish version of the SET-M demonstrated adequate psychometric properties, confirming its validity and reliability for assessing simulation-based education effectiveness in undergraduate nursing students in Argentina and Spain. This study provides a valuable tool for self-assessment in simulation education within Spanish-speaking contexts.

About a third of all marine fish in the world are caught in Small-Scale Fisheries (SSF). SSF are increasingly recognised as essential for food security and livelihoods for vulnerable and economically fragile communities globally. Although individual SSF vessels are usually perceived as having little impact on the ecosystem, the cumulative impact of gear type and number of vessels may be substantial. Bottom trawling is a common fishing method that can greatly influence the marine ecosystem by damaging the seafloor and generating high levels of discards. However, appropriate sampling coverage using on-board observer programmes to collect these data from SSF are rare, as they are expensive and pose logistical constraints. A mobile App was used to assess whether self-reporting by fishers could provide reliable fine-scale information on fishing effort and discards over time in an illegal shrimp trawling fishery in northern Peru. Maps depicting the spatial distribution of trawling effort and the proportion of discards from observers and fishers were compared using the Similarity in Means (SIM) Index, which ranges from 0 when spatial patterns differ completely to 1 when spatial patterns are very similar. High levels of agreement between spatio-temporal patterns of effort (SIM Index = 0.81) and discards (0.96) were found between fisher and observer maps. Moreover, far greater spatial coverage was accomplished by fishers, suggesting that self-reporting via an App represents a useful approach to collect reliable fisheries data as an initial step for effective monitoring and management of these fisheries. This study assessed the relationship between grief and posttraumatic growth (PTG) in 2415 individuals from six Latin American countries, and how the relationship between these variables is moderated by gender and age. The Posttraumatic Growth Inventory-Short Form and Pandemic Grief Scale were used. Moderation analysis utilized Model 2, proposed by Hayes. The findings from the analysis indicate that the proposed regression model is statistically significant in most countries. Gender moderated the relationship between grief and PTG in El Salvador and Peru; meanwhile, age moderated this relationship in Uruguay. The findings support the importance of incorporating gender and age differences into both the theory of grief and PTG and empirical studies investigating these variables in Latin America. Furthermore, mental health professionals should consider gender and age differences when planning interventions aimed at fostering PTG in individuals who have experienced the loss of a loved one in the evaluated countries.

Psychometric evaluation of the Adherence to Refills and Medications Scale (ARMS) in Peruvian hypertensive patients
    (2025-11-20)
The study aimed to determine the psychometric properties of the ARMS in patients with arterial hypertension from health centers in East Lima. This instrumental research included 367 participants (48.77% men and 51.23% women) aged 35–80 years ( M = 64.11; SD = 9.49). This study evaluated content validity, internal structure validity using confirmatory factor analysis, measurement invariance by sex, and reliability. The results demonstrated adequate content validity and a unidimensional structure with good model fit (CFI = 0.979; TLI = 0.973; SRMR = 0.064; RMSEA = 0.105). Additionally, measurement invariance by sex and age was established, and the instrument demonstrated satisfactory reliability (ω = 0.92). In conclusion, the ARMS showed robust psychometric properties in patients with arterial hypertension from health centers in East Lima.

Objective: This study aimed to study the psychometric functioning of the ultra-short version of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory through the Item Response Theory (IRT) and evaluate the Differential Item Functioning (DIF). Method: 404 Peruvian adults of both sexes (65.8% women and 34.2% men) between 18 and 58 years (M = 24.3, SD = 7.9) participated. The Brief Resilient Coping Scale and the General Well-being Index (WHO-5) were also applied. Results: All the items present adequate discrimination and difficulty indices. Also, it was found that item 1 presents DIF between the group of men and women. On the other hand, it was found that resilience significantly predicts posttraumatic growth (.50; p < .01) and, in turn, posttraumatic growth significantly predicts psychological well-being (.40; p < .01). Conclusions: The ultra-short version shows adequate psychometric functioning and is, therefore, a helpful tool that allows obtaining valid and reliable interpretations of posttraumatic growth.
