Item type:Publicación, Psychometric performance of the ultra-short version of the post-traumatic growth inventory in Peruvian adults during the Post-Pandemic: Analysis from Item Response Theory and SEM models(2025-12-20); ;Samy Luana Huerta Estrada ;Rose Wytske Barbaran Alvarado; Objective: This study aimed to study the psychometric functioning of the ultra-short version of the Posttraumatic Growth Inventory through the Item Response Theory (IRT) and evaluate the Differential Item Functioning (DIF). Method: 404 Peruvian adults of both sexes (65.8% women and 34.2% men) between 18 and 58 years (M = 24.3, SD = 7.9) participated. The Brief Resilient Coping Scale and the General Well-being Index (WHO-5) were also applied. Results: All the items present adequate discrimination and difficulty indices. Also, it was found that item 1 presents DIF between the group of men and women. On the other hand, it was found that resilience significantly predicts posttraumatic growth (.50; p < .01) and, in turn, posttraumatic growth significantly predicts psychological well-being (.40; p < .01). Conclusions: The ultra-short version shows adequate psychometric functioning and is, therefore, a helpful tool that allows obtaining valid and reliable interpretations of posttraumatic growth. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publicación, Meaning of life questionnaire (MLQ) in peruvian undergraduate students: study of its psychometric properties from the perspective of classical test theory (CTT)(2022-08-24); ;Lindsey W. Vilca ;Julisa Quiroz-Becerra ;Samy L. HuertaRosali Delgado-VallejosBACKGROUND: The study of the meaning of life is essential since it plays a protective role in the mental health of university students. However, no studies have shown the adequate psychometric functioning of the MLQ in Latin American university students. For this reason, this research aims to evaluate the internal structure using CTT models, obtain evidence of validity based on the relationship with other variables, perform factorial invariance according to gender, and estimate the reliability of the MLQ. METHODS: A sample of 581 Peruvian undergraduate students of both sexes (29.5% men and 70.5% women) between the ages of 18 and 35 (M = 22.6; SD = 3.3) was collected. Along with the MLQ, other instruments were applied to measure satisfaction with life (SWLS), subjective well-being (WBI), and depression (PHQ-9). RESULTS: In the present study was evidenced that the model of two related factors of nine items presents better adjustment indices (RMSEA = .075; SRMR = .059; CFI = .97; TLI = .96) compared to other models. Also, it was shown that the factorial structure of the MLQ is strictly invariant for the group of men and women. It was also shown that the presence of meaning was positively related to satisfaction with life (.63) and well-being (.60) and negatively to depression (- .56). In contrast, the search for meaning was not significantly related to life satisfaction (- .05) and well-being (- .07); but yes, to depression (.19). CONCLUSION: It is concluded that the MLQ from the perspective of CTT has shown adequate evidence of reliability and validity. Therefore, it could be used in future studies and evaluation and intervention processes. In addition, the study provides the first evidence of the psychometric functioning of the scale in university students from Latin America. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publicación, Identification and quantification of components in extracts of Uncaria tomentosa by HPLC-ES/MS.(2004); ;Carbone, V ;Quiroz, J de Dioz Zuniga ;De Simone, FPizza, CThe two main classes of secondary metabolites, alkaloids and quinovic acid glycosides, of Uncaria tomentosa (Willd.) DC. (Rubiaceae), a Peruvian plant commonly known as 'uña de gato', have been analysed. Separation of the alkaloidal fraction was achieved using a solid phase extraction method based on cationic exchange, and an analytical method employing HPLC-ES/MS has been developed. Quantitative data for commercial wild bark, cultivated bark and leaves are reported. The analysis of quinovic acid glycosides was performed directly on the crude extract using both a fast analytical method based on flow injection ES/MS, and a more complete analytical technique using HPLC-MS. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

QuirozThe coexistence of bicuspid aortic valve disease and coronary artery disease is well-established, but the identification of cardiac amyloidosis in this population has surged with advancing imaging techniques, introducing complexities in patient management. This case report emphasizes the pivotal role of multimodality imaging in accurately diagnosing three concurrent pathologies. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Item type:Publicación, A case of monkeypox and cytomegalovirus coinfection manifesting with crusted lesions mimicking rupiod syphilis(2023-11-03); ;Jhoann AurichJosé QuirozHuman monkeypox is a viral zoonosis that has recently emerged worldwide. Clinical cutaneous features include papules, vesicles, and pustules. However, atypical manifestations mimicking other infectious diseases are being reported more frequently. We present a 41-year-old man patient with untreated HIV with generalized rupioid crusted ulcerated plaques with perineal ulceration that were found to represent monkeypox and cytomegalovirus infections. - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Item type:Publicación, Novel Biomarkers for the diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy.(2024-01-01); ;Juan Carlos Quiroz ;Jacsel Suárez ;José Enrique López PazPela J RoseboomDiabetes mellitus and its complications are a known public health problem nowadays. Diabetic nephropathy is one of the main complications and the result of multiple mechanisms, including: activation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system, formation of advanced glycation end products and chronic inflammation that led to glomerular and tubulo-interstitial damage producing mesangial expansion and glomerulosclerosis, which finally results in chronic kidney disease. Early detection of diabetic nephropathy is essential for adequate intervention to stop, or at least slow down its progression. Multiple markers have been described, not only the classic ones such as serum creatinine, urea, and albuminuria, but at this point also novel biomarkers such as neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, tumor necrosis factor 1 receptor and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, among others. The aim of this article was to provide an update review of the role of biomarkers in the diagnosis of diabetic nephropathy.
