Objectives: To determine the characterization of the diet in biochemical and anthropometric profiles with principal component analysis in obese Ecuadorian patients. Methods: Descriptive, comparative, longitudinal studies; we had access to the institutional health clinical history database and a study group was formed, they were offered a low-carbohydrate diet. The sample consisted of 110 obese patients from the Hospital of Guayaquil-Ecuador. Results: The patients were between the ages of 25 to 65 years. The results showed a significant loss of BMI (kg/m2) (Δ-2.6±1.9) (p<0.001), waist circumference (cm) (Δ-5.1±4.7) (p<0.001), body fat (%) (Δ-3.6±3.6) (p<0.001), triglycerides (mg/dL) (Δ-25.4±72.9) (p<0.001) and glucose (mg/dL) (Δ-6.8±9.6) (p<0.001). Conclusion: The low carbohydrate diet reduces BMI, waist circumference, body fat, triglycerides and glucose in obese patients.

Abstract. This study presents the first coordinated observations of atmospheric electric field (AEF) and ionospheric plasma drifts during the partial solar eclipses of 2 July 2019 and 14 October 2023, observed near the magnetic equator in Lima, Peru. AEF was measured using a field mill, while ionospheric drifts were obtained from radar observations at the Jicamarca Radio Observatory and local magnetometers. The two events displayed contrasting electrodynamic responses: in 2019, AEF variations were ambiguous due to meteorological fluctuations, while in 2023, clearer weather conditions revealed distinct decreases in both surface AEF and ionospheric vertical drift near maximum obscuration. These results demonstrate the variable nature of eclipse-time electrodynamics and demonstrate that simultaneous measurements of AEF and ionospheric electric field are crucial for elucidating the mechanisms of vertical coupling between atmospheric layers. Such coordinated observations provide preliminary insight into how solar and terrestrial drivers jointly modulate the near-surface electric environment, contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of atmosphere–ionosphere interactions in low-latitude regions.

The vine is a crop affected by various pests and diseases. Being the oidium produced by Erysiphe necator one of the most important. Generally the farmer, due to lack of knowledge makes an inappropriate use of fungicides, which is harmful, since the intensive use (and sometimes excessive) of chemical products has had negative effects on the environment and the quality of life of human populations. That is why the present investigation set out to develop a clean technology with the use of antagonistic fungi Trichoderma viride for the control of E. necator in the Italian vine variety in field conditions. Two treatments were performed in parallel. The first consisted of the exclusive use of T. viride, and the second of the exclusive use of chemical products. Sanitary applications were given once a week, from the phenological stage of inflorescence until berry ripening. By the other hand the chemical treatment consisted of five applications with fungicides of different active ingredients. The variables evaluated were incidence and severity of oidium in leaves and clusters. The treatment with exclusive use of T. viride presented an average efficiency of 92% in the leaves and 81% in clusters. This data is very useful for farmers, since the possibility of using a biological controller as another less invasive and harmful alternative in the control of E. necator. Therefore, T. viride can be a good strategy if it is applicator in the first phenological stages. So to ensure its functioning, a correct application dose, good maintenance of the backpack sprayer, and proper handling of the canopy must be taken into account. Also is suggested to extend the study using native Trichoderma strains as well as to implement other beneficial microorganisms.

Since the introduction of technology in the classroom, there has been a growing demand for digital competencies, which has driven the need for validated instruments to assess this concept more prominently. Therefore, this study determined the psychometric properties of a self-assessment scale of digital competencies for teachers of Regular Basic Education. The study was carried out in the Unidad de Gestión Educativa Local (UGEL)/District Education Management Unit of Barranca and Huaura located north of Lima, Peru. A cross-sectional and instrumental quantitative methodological strategy was used, in which exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) techniques were used, and 534 teachers were surveyed. The results show an EFA with two factors and loadings greater than 0.4, a KMO equal to 0.957, and a cumulative variance of 51.30%. The CFA analysis validated three models, where model 2 with three factors, Evaluación y Promoción (EP)/Evaluation and Promotion; Recursos Digitales en la Enseñanza (RDE)/Digital Resources in Teaching; and Participación Profesional en el Aprendizaje (PPA)/Professional Participation in Learning, yielded high correlations and adequate goodness-of-fit indices close to unity (X2/df =1.476; RMSEA=0.042; TLI=0.97; and CFI=0.97). It can be observed that model 2, which includes three factors, presents more appropriate measures, which makes it the most suitable option for assessing digital competencies in teachers of Regular Basic Education.
